Have you ever think that Zanzibar and Ghana have something in common. Probable not - At a quick glance you may only notice differences . For example when you think of neighbouring sea Zanzibar is surrounded by Indian ocean but Ghana is neighbouring Pacific Ocean. In Zanzibar we export cloves but they export Cocoa. We are located at the Eastern part of African Continent but Ghana is at the Western side. Nevertheless the truth is -we have something in common or let me say we are linked with at least one historical thread. Pay look at the below photo.
"I have no doubt that you have started thinking of Forodhani".
Kweli si umeena Mizinga. Any way this is a photo taken from CapeCoast of Ghana from a Palace which had special place for keeping slaves.
For those people who had a chance to study history in their secondary education might be aware that some of the slaves were taken from Zanzibar to CapeTown- South Africa and then CapeCoast in Ghana before being taken to America and elsewhere in Europe. Writings in this history shows vividly how Zanzibar and Ghana colonial rulers and slave traders were close allies at that time because of the trade.
Because in Zanzibar we had people who remained here just because slave trade brought them here from there original places - why don't we think of the possibility of Zanzibaries who remained in Ghana because of the same circumstances. One of my friend told me that in CapeTown their is a Community of Zanzibaries who were left there since those days of Ukoloni. Hao ni mbali ya hawa wa Zanzibari wachakachuaji wa siku hizi wanaozamia.
